Hutton, discussing what he learned about the “guy who got shot but wasn’t a president,” known far more appropriately as Martin Luther King:

“Mom, they had these rules that weren’t fair. You know what one of them was? They had a rule that on the bus the brown people had to ride in the back and the white people got to ride in the front. That wasn’t fair. So Martin Luther King fought it.”

Rusty, thinking about this for a moment and remarking, very seriously: “Yeah. Dat’s not fair. And den, den da bus driver would be really confused.”

We may need to clarify a few things, but at least they caught that it wasn’t fair…
